The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey Official Sets

At long last The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey sets have been revealed! The wait has been well worth it as I can't see them doing a better job.
These were actually released a few days ago. So you've probably seen them before. But if you haven't,  get ready to be blown away!

I'll be giving details, thoughts, and possible spoilers after the break. So click the button below.

79010 The Goblin King Battle - As seen above, this set is the largest of the wave.
Minifigs: The Goblin King, Gandalf, Dori, Nori, Ori, and three Goblins.
Pieces and price unknown. Nope! Not making another wrong guess. :) EDIT:  841 pcs.  $99.99.
Possible Spoilers: Not really any spoilers. Of course we see the Goblin King, his throne, and some other Goblin Town structures. I'm curious about the book on the throne. But maybe that's just a touch from LEGO.

79004 Barrel Escape - The exciting escape from the Elven King's halls.
Minifigs: Bilbo Baggins, Oin, Gloin, Elven Captain of the Guard (Tauriel?), Elf.
Pieces and price unknown. Notice the golden elven blades!
Possible Spoilers: Is the Elf in green Tauriel? The hair is a different shade from Tauriel in one of the sets below.
The barrels are on their side. This proves the rumor that the dwarves are stacked on top of one another.
Oin and Gloin in their cells. I doubt the cells will be this close to the wine cellar. It just looks like LEGO wanted to incorporate more into the set.
Will this scene be in the first movie? Before the announcement of the third film, this would be the final scene in the first movie. Is it just that LEGO has decided to keep this set in the wave even though it is in the second film? Or is all our speculation of the set below being the end of the first film wrong? We'll know come December 14th.

79002 Attack of the Wargs - What is thought to be the end of the first Hobbit film. Or is it?
Minifigs: Thorin Oakenshield, Bifur, Warg Rider, two Goblins, and two wargs.
Pieces and Price unknown. Still Nope!
Possible Spoilers: The only possible spoiler is that there is a warg rider. This could mean that there are goblins with the wargs before the Goblin army shows up.
As for the catapult, ignore it. LEGO has to have a play feature in every set.

79001 Escape From the Mirkwood Spiders - The scene from the book when Legolas and Tauriel rescue the dwarves from the Mirkwood spiders. What?
Minifigs: Legolas, Tauriel, Fili, Kili, and two Mirkwood spiders.
Pieces and price unknown. Nopety nope nope!
Possible Spoilers: Legolas and Tauriel rescue the dwarves from the spiders. Yep. you heard me right!
This could add quite a bit of awesomeness to the movie! (Apart from the whole movie being awesome!)
Some have said that this takes away Bibo's chance of naming Sting. That is incorrect. If you remember, Bilbo names Sting when he kills a spider BEFORE rescuing the dwarves. Cheerio mate!

79000 Riddles for the Ring - One of the most deciding moments of the outcome of Middle Earth.
Minifigs: Bilbo Baggins, Gollum.
Pieces and price unknown. Alright! I say $12.99. Now please leave me alone. EDIT: 105 pcs. $9.99. Man! I stink at this.
Possible Spoilers: None.

79003 An Unexpected Gathering - The beginning of Bilbo's adventure.
Minifigs: Bilbo Baggins, Gandalf, Bofur, Bombur, Dwalin, Balin.
Pieces and price: Known! $59.99! Boy that's a relief. Pieces unknown. :(
Possible Spoilers: Only four of the thirteen dwarves are in this movie. Boy, that's a big one.

These will be hitting shelves on December first! Just in time for Christmas.
My wallet will be feeling very thin this year.

  1. I am guessing that if that is Tauriel the elf that she is going to find them out and let them go (instead of getting drunk like the book :P)

    1. If it is Tauriel, she will be the Captain of the Guard. And I have a hard time seeing the Captain of the King's Guard letting any prisoners go. Then again, Peter Jackson is Peter Jackson. :)
