LEGO Legends of Chima - The Story

The story behind Legends of Chima has finally been revealed. Definitely a new Ninjago. But without further ado...

The Chima Kingdom that was once a pure and natural paradise, transformed into a barbaric battlefield of animal species armed to the teeth. Best friends turned into sworn enemies. Ruthless weapons are destroying the once sacred temples. In the forests blood-thirsty vehicles are furiously charging at each other in deadly duels.
The creatures are fiercely fighting over the possession of the super-powerful natural energy-source called Chi – which is the source of life, as well as the source of unimaginable destruction.
Only a few brave heroes understand the true nature of Chi, and that its misuse will lead to the total destruction of Chima. Their story, and the story of those who want to destroy them is known as The Legends of Chima…
LEGO Legends of Chima will be introduced next January with an initial 14 LEGO sets, along with a 22-minute independent TV-series. Are you ready?

This could be a great way to get new piece molds. Figures, weapons,or just plain ol' bricks. That's definitely my biggest interest in this theme.

Reef Walk by Max Pointner

This reef is just budding with life. And some of it looks very similar to a certain hobbit I once knew.

MOCOlympics Round 1: Finding Nemo by Blake Baer

Blake Baer doesn't just make great Lord of the Rings MOCs. He's just proven it to us with his first entry in the 2012 MocOlympics.
Finding Nemo is most likely one of the best animated movies ever made. And Blake has taken it and created something almost as good as the film it's based off of. After viewing this MOC, go watch the film in its 3D release.

LEGO Galaxy Squad 3013 Set List

And we have yet another new 2013 LEGO theme that will be replacing an old one. Last one was Legends of Chima replacing Ninjago, this one is Galaxy Squad 2013 and will be replacing Alien Conquest. Seriously LEGO, just wait a year before replacing a theme. You've done it before, and you can do it again.

But it is coming out. And you most likely want to know the set list. So here you go:
70700 Space Swarmer
70701 Swarm Interceptor
70702 Warp Stinger
70703 Space Mantis
70704 Vermin Vaporizer
70705 Bug Obliterator

Sounds like humans vs space bugs. And it sounds very similar to the popular CUUSOO project Space Marines.
Thanks to ToysNBricks for the info!

The Hobbit: An Unexpected Gathering Box Art

Just when I was remarking about how we don't have enough Hobbit set peeks, we get this beautiful box art of An Unexpected Gathering.
I really like the top banner. It adds a very mysterious, hobbity feel.
This will retail for $59.99. Get out your wallet!

New LEGO Marvel and DC Set Info

Images of the 2013 Super Heroes line have been leaked. Unfortunately no Marvel, only DC. And those of you that have been following this blog for a while know that I am partial to Marvel. But Marvel fans fear not! We do have some set listings:

  • 76004 Spider-man - Hunting with Spider-Cycle
  • 76005 Spider-man - Mission at Daily Bugle
  • 76007 Super Heroes: Marvel 4
These are just dripping with possibilities. But you DC fans are probably waiting for your info. Well, there actually isn't any. The only thing to know is if you buy Batman: The Visual Dictionary you will have access to both of these DC images.

Wonder Woman's Invisible Jet. I'm giving up on guessing prices, cause the last few times I guessed I grossly underestimated the prices. Much to my embarrassment.
And of course, above you can see Mr. Freeze riding something. No idea what.

Okay, I lied. There actually is more DC info. So DC fans rejoice!
76000 Arctic Batman vs. Mr. Freeze - Aquaman on Ice
67001 Batman vs. Bane - Chase With Tumbler

Those are your newest leaks from LEGO. Keep coming back in the next few months as we'll be seeing lots more.

Afrika Korps [By Dane E]

Mechanekton (AKA Dane E) from flickr has just completed this very nice array of military vehicles that I thought very worthy of sharing on here. So with so further ado please check it out.

The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey Trailer #2

It's rare that I post anything on here that doesn't have to do with LEGO. And why not? This is a LEGO website.
But ever since the announcement about The Lord of the Rings LEGO sets, The Hobbit has had a lot to do with LEGO. So technically, this trailer does have a connection with this site. And with all the LEGO set speculation released with this trailer, I'm sure nobody will object with me posting this.

Aside from that rambling, Warner Brothers has just released the new trailer for the epic first film in The Hobbit trilogy. And this trailer surpasses the first in just about every way! Click play and you'll see why!
*WARNING* This trailer is rated PG. While it's no more scary than The Lord of the Rings (which I'm sure 99% of you have seen a billion times) if you are a young child reading this, play it safe and go ask your parents if you can watch it.
Otherwise, enjoy!

M.O. Round 1 - I am the Walrus George G.

The MocOlympics are almost over. There have been a hundred entries submitted. And this MOC by George G is arguably the best entry yet. Keep in mind I said arguably. There are still plenty of entries to be submitted.
Check out the walrus. He's got quite the mustache.

See it on Mocpages.
Take a look at all the other entries to the MocOlympics. Or submit your own entry here.

Organic Designs by David Steeves

I have to say that one of the hardest things to do when building is to meld bionicle and the classic brick together in one symbiotic build. These organic looking designs are built by David Steeves from MOCpages and I thought they were pretty original and awesome, so check them out here on MOCpages  http://www.mocpages.com/moc.php/340756

Cyclopian Cyrana [Mark Stafford]

The legendary space builder Mark Stafford has built yet another ship worthy of the blog. Check it out on mocpages and be sure to tell him what you think of it in a comment here or Follow the link there to see it on MOCpages here.http://www.mocpages.com/moc.php/340802

Bradley the Blue Jay [By DeTomaso Pantera]

DeTomaso Pantera From Mocpages has created, what I think, the best blue that I have ever seen made out of lego! Check out his page on mocpages and make sure to leave a comment.

Fred by Paul Vermeesch

Paul Vermeesch continues to build in the famous "Legohaulic" style. After the success of his Marionette he just had to impress us again. And boy, did he ever.
Fred is, in my opinion, better than Marionette. The clever use of tires as pants is a great NPU. But I think my favorite part is how lifelike the face is. And it's made out of bricks!

LEGO The Hobbit Oin Minifigure

With the upcoming release of The Hobbit sets later this year, it's about time we saw something other than the Bag End set from Comic Con. It may not be as big as last Bag End, but it's definitely awesome! Oin, brother of Gloin, one of the thirteen dwarves that took part in the unexpected journey with Bilbo Baggins is the newest leak from LEGO.
Supposedly, John Callen released this picture on his Facebook page. I have yet to verify that, but no matter where this came from, it's definitely real!

Legends of Chima Set Peek

The new 2013 theme, Legends of Chima, has had a set leak. Apparently this set was listed on Ebay. The listing was several months old. How did this happen? We have no idea. But my job isn't to find out HOW things got leaked as much as to show you the leaked images. Sneaky, I know. ;)
This set is 70113 (Notice the number change) Chi Battles and contains 442 pieces. The minifig in the below pic looks pretty cool. But so far, I'm disappointed.

Why am I disappointed? The reasons are simple.
1. This theme looks like a remake of Ninjago. And with Ninjago not even out of production yet, I have no idea why LEGO didn't wait two years before releasing this theme.
2. The game themes have never really appealed to me. Sure, they're fun for kids, but when it really comes down to it, the hype wears off really fast.
3: Game-based sets are always overpriced because of the expensive-to-make pieces. (Spinners for example)

So what do you think of the first look at Legends of Chime? Excited? Or, like me, disappointed?
Leave a comment and tell me your thoughts.

Hobbiton - a Long Expected Party by Legopard

This MOC is a lot larger than you might think. There is a whole other side to it that has Bag End, party decorations, and several more Hobbit holes.
It's definitely one of the best Hobbiton MOCs I've seen. And that's saying a lot!

WTC 9/11 Memorial 11th Anniversary Sep, 11th 2012 by Sven Jagdmann

This is a nice little memorial for 9/11. And let's not forget those who died and gave up their lives eleven years ago today.
Clever use of the towers as the 11.

Amazon Drops Helm's Deep Under $100

Amazon has lowered the price on The Battle of Helm's Deep again. It's a little lower than the normal sale, being $99.69. This is a good time to stock up on these if you haven't already. And trust me, you DO want to stock up.

Head on over to Amazon to buy it!

Lego Headphones by Eldeem

I thought these were real for about 5 seconds. That's longer than most LEGO object representations can fool me.
These are so realistic, I'm pretty sure Eldeem could fool the maker of these headphones. :)

The Big Bad Wolf by Toa Likus

The Big Bad Wolf is back in town! He's hungry for his revenge on this pigs. That'd be nice - some Bionicle pigs. Definitely a challenge. Leave a comment with your ideas for the pig tails. :)

Flower by Lego Obsessionist

Look at the pretty flower... Wait! What the... Oh my gosh! It's made of LEGO!
Ok, that may not have been my reaction, but I think I summed up the thoughts of the average person when they see that flower.
Really clever use of the Bionicle parts. And did you notice the PAB cup as the pot? Great touch!

Abyssian by I Scream Clone

The main attraction in this MOC is the amazing castle, but one of my favorite parts is the lime green lava/swamp/ooze surrounding it. Yeah, that sounds totally weird, but lime-green is just awesome! Thumbs up for lime-green!

Check out the great wall detailing in this killer MOC by I Scream Clone!

Vulcan Hall by Z Cerberus

Love how he made the stone wall. But I think my favorite part is the cottages. The window trim is beautifully done!

Poll Ideas?

At the beginning of each month, I have to think-up a new poll for you to vote on. This is fun, but sometimes it's hard to find a good idea. That's where you come in. If you have a poll idea you'd like to see on BrickEnd, just shoot me an email at Brickendblog@gmail.com and let me know which one you want to see on here.
If I like it, your idea could be the poll for one of the months this year, next year, etc.

No limit on ideas submitted, just make them LEGO related.

Favorite Team GB Collectible Minifigure Poll Closed/New Poll

A little over a month ago, one of the largest Olympic Games EVER took place in London. To celebrate those games, the poll for the month of August was for the Favorite Team GB Collectible Minifigure. Unfortunately, after the London hype wore off, many of us were wondering why I didn't have that poll in September. The answer is: I have no idea!
And the winner for the BrickEnd August 2012 Poll is... THE BRAWNY BOXER!
Hooray for the Boxer! He put up a good fight against his Team GB partners and emerged victorious!
Well that was fun. But what's next?

The poll for the month of September will be for your Favorite Licensed Theme! You must have a favorite. Everybody does.
This could be an extremely close race. There are so many good themes! But only one will have the power to win (or the fan base).

Vote for your favorite!
