LEGO The Hobbit Video Game Trailer

Seemingly out of nowhere, a LEGO The Hobbit video game trailer has been released. This should not only be a fun game, but a great addition to the LEGO LOTR video game.
Am I the only one that didn't see this coming? Was there a memo that I missed? Or is everyone as surprised as me?
When will the game be available, and will it include scenes from There And Back Again in the final game? Only time will tell. For now, just enjoy this little trailer.

Merry Belated Christmas From BrickEnd

Yes, it's December 26th. Yes, officially Christmas is over. Yes, here I am a day late wishing you all a merry Christmas. During all of the festivities of yesterday I failed to post and give my seasonal greetings. But here I am today trying to make it up to you.
I hope all of you had a very great Christmas. Not only for presents, but also for spending time with family and friends. Cause when it really boils down to it, it's being together what really counts on days like yesterday. I know some of you younger kids are probably like "what?" But don't worry. You'll understand when you're older. For now, I'm glad you got your Chima Lion Temple or Ewok Village.

Merry belated Christmas everyone!

NASA Mars Science Laboratory Curiosity Rover Revealed

Remember the CUUSOO Mars Curiosity Rover set that passed 10,000 supporters awhile ago? Well the finished model has been revealed. The set is pretty similar to the original design, so I'm sure that makes Stephen Pakbaz (the original creator) happy.
We're looking at a January release date. So just hold on for another couple weeks. The set contains 295 pieces and will retail for $30.

2014 Marvel Super Heroes Images Unveiled

This isn't exactly the freshest news on earth, but the 2014 Marvel Super Heroes box art has been revealed. The only major difference from the sneak peek we saw earlier this month is the better images. But we also know that the Spiderman sets are from the Ultimate Spiderman TV show and not The Amazing Spiderman 2, and the other two sets are from the Avengers Assemble show.

Note: The prices projected for these sets are merely guesses. So far no information has been revealed concerning price points.

76014 Spider-Trike vs. Electro. Minifigures: Spiderman, Electro. 70 pieces. Price: $9.99-$12.99.

Pokemon: Rapidash by Mike Nieves

Though I never was into Pokémon, and probably never will be, I know a good MOC when I see one. And that's exactly what Mike Nieves Rapidash is. Not only are some of the parts used incredibly difficult to work with, the model is very realistic looking.
I really can't decide what I like better, the flaming mane and tail, or the intricately designed neck. Oh well, I like them both.

Rivendell by Alice Finch

This Rivendell created by Alice Finch on Flickr is the perfect MOC to look at this morning.  Obviously because The Hobbit: DoS was released last night. For those of you that haven't seen the film yet, I recommend you do. Visually stunning. Plot... let's just say it's not quite as stunning. But enough with the movie, let's talk about the MOC.
While it may not look too much like other Rivendell MOCs, or the Rivendell from the film for that matter, it's no less impressive. There is a fantastic attention to detail. From the roof designs to the water-horses. Check out a larger image and more by clicking the link below.

LEGO Architecture Marine Bay Sands Available in Select Countries

The newest LEGO Architecture set comes completely out of nowhere. At least for me anyways. I guess there was a little image leaked of this set in October, but I never saw it. That's what I get for not having any interest in this theme.
The Marine Bay Sands is an Integrated Resort on Marine Bay in Singapore (thank you, Wikipedia). Basically it's a really expensive building that looks really cool. And LEGO decided to make a set out of it. This should be good for those of you that like the trans-blue tiles.

21021 Marine Bay Sands. 602 pieces.

As far as I know, this set isn't available in the US. But it is available in Korea. So if you live in Korea, you can buy it here.

Thanks to Brickset for the info!

2014 Marvel Sets

Thanks to an Australian consumer magazine, we have some new images of the 2014 Marvel Super Heroes sets. Three Spiderman sets, a Captain America set, and a Thor/Hulk set make up the wave. Not sure if the Spiderman sets are from The Amazing Spiderman 2 or not. The Captain America one appears to be a more cartoon version of The First Avenger, and I have no idea where the Thor one comes from.

76014 Spider-Trike vs. Electro.
76015 Doc Ock Truck Heist
76016 Spider-Helicopter Rescue
76017 Captain America vs. Hydra
76018 Hulk Lab Smash

Looks like a pretty solid wave. With some fantastic minifigures (Electro, anyone?). Expect more details soon.

LYNX Z1 - Heavy Assault Mech & Co. by David Steeves

This is one of those mechs that you would not want to meet in an alley. Or anywhere else for that matter. Things might not go too well.
I really like the leg design on this thing. It's a little square, but still good. And the missile launchers more than make up for it.
Am I the only one that thinks of Pacific Rim when looking at this MOC?

Happy Thanksgiving/Thanksgivukkah by Dave Kaleta

It's that time of year again - the time when we all stuff ourselves with amazing food and then groan about overeating. But hey, it's worth it!
To celebrate Thanksgiving and Hannukkah, Dave Kaleta has built a wonderful little turkey. A classic Thanksgiving animal.
Happy Thanksgiving everybody!

Snow Flower by R Zangelmi

It's amazing how something so small and simple can be so perfect. Yet that's exactly what Riccardo Zangelmi's MOC is. Really quite simple, but nevertheless good.

Star Wars MicroFighters and Two New Sets Revealed

More and more sets are appearing on tons of different websites. Including several previously unseen Star Wars sets. Also, what I thought would be another wave of Planet sets, has actually turned out to be Microfighters. Basically a tiny fighter with a minifig crammed on top. In my opinion, better than the Planet sets.

75046 Coruscant Police Gunship. Minifigures: Anakin, Ahsoka, Clone Troopers x2. This set comes from the last few episodes of Season 5 of the Clone Wars when everyone thinks Ahsoka bombed the Jedi Temple. If you remember, she ran away and Anakin and the Clones chased her in the Police Gunship. Just so you know where this ugly-looking ship came from.

2014 LEGO DK Books Announced

Dorling Kindersley has a whole new wave of LEGO books headed our way next year. While most are nothing more than story books, sticker books, and the odd Brickmaster, there are a few that stand out from the crowd. These being a new Star Wars Visual Dictionary, Friends Character Encyclopedia, and Legends of Chima: The Secret History.
The first Star Wars dictionary came out in 2009, so this should be a great collectors book. What with nearly 5 years of sets added.
The Friends Character Encyclopedia on the other hand, sounds like a flop. A) I don't think there are enough characters to make the theme worthy of an encyclopedia. And B) I don't really think that many people would be interested in owning one. Except for the exclusive figure. I have nothing against Friends, it just seems a little early for a character encyclopedia. Then again, there are at least 4 different versions of each girl.
As for the LoC book, I can only guess as to what it might be. Could be a dictionary of some sort.

You can see more in Penguin books' catalog.

The LEGO Ancient Chinese Tang's Horse by Schfio Factory

It's been well over a year since I've last blogged Schfio Factory. He makes his return with an artfully built horse. The MOC looks good in this picture, but when seen at different angles, it looks brilliant! I especially love the design of the tail and legs.

LEGO CUUSOO: The Adventure Time Project Nearly at 10k

There are several projects on CUUSOO that are mere days from 10,000 supporters. Probably the most popular of these is The Adventure Time Project. This project is under 200 supporters from 10,000, and it needs your help to get those last few. So if you haven't supported yet, go over there and do so. You can be one of 10,000 to get this project rolling. Just a little incentive for you.

Update: It has reached 10,000 supporters. Now, we wait.

The Amazing Spider-Man by Gabe Moore

Gabe Moore loves to make LDD models of super heroes. This time, he's built the Amazing Spiderman. And it is amazing! Lots of the parts used are very hard to find a good use for, yet Gabe was able to use several awkward pieces. And Spidey looks all all the better for it.
Check it out!

New DC Super Heroes Set Images

Hot behind the 2014 Star Wars sets the 2014 DC Super Heroes sets have been revealed. As in every wave, Batman is the focus. But who's got a problem with that? After all, he's Batman.
New heroes and new villains in this wave, so make sure you check out all the pictures.

76010 Batman: The Penguin Face off. Batman makes his scuba-suit debut. You gotta love the duck-boat.

2014 LEGO Star Wars Sets Revealed

With November flying by, more and more 2014 sets are popping up. This time, it's Star Wars that makes a showing. A whopping 19 sets have been announced, though we only have pictures of 11 of them.
Unfortunately, the quality of the sets seems to be going down. The minifigures only get better, but the sets definitely aren't worth the price asked for them.
Grab a bag of chips, and have fun skimming through these.

The first set, seen above, is 75034 Death Star Troopers. Probable price point: $12.99. My question is, why is LEGO lowering the value of the Imperial Guards? Who needs an army of them anyway?

Check out the rest below!

Vanishing Point by Nick Barrett

For round 5 of the MOCOlympics, Nick Barrett was given the category of forced perspective. Forced Perspective is, as some of you know, using bricks and an odd camera angle to force the audience to believe the MOC is really much deeper than it is. Though in fact the MOC could only be a few inches deep or so, the audience can think it goes on for several feet, or even miles.
Given a task this difficult, I'd say Nick really did an excellent job. Not only is the road decieving in it's length, but the car he built to drive on it is a work of art in itself.
